Introduction

JfegW was created in 1986 and since then it has been strongly committed to the training and capacity building of young people and adolescents as well as youth workers, using innovation and exchange of experiences as fundamental tools of its work.

The association's interest in working simultaneously at national, European and international level has led it to be part of different international networks such as "United World Project", "Youth for a United World" and "Teens for Unity".

Currently the association has a staff, mainly of volunteers, who contribute significantly with their own experiences from their academic, professional and/or experiential backgrounds. This interdisciplinary group cooperates efficiently in the implementation of the activities and is in continuous training to guarantee a high quality in the results of the initiatives and projects, as well as in the effective achievement of the objectives.

The partnership is characterised by giving priority to the following aspects: strong commitment to the SDGs and a sustainable future; promotion of European policies in the youth field; focus on innovation, social impact, youth empowerment, gender equality; integration and multiculturalism; entrepreneurship and youth employment; sustainability and the promotion of the Green Deal concept at local and international level.

What we do...

In order to contribute to all the areas in which the association is committed, several activities and projects are developed at local and international level. Among the most important ones are the following:

> Implementation and participation in trainings on different topics, with the aim of discovering and/or improving the capacities of the staff and the young people involved.

> Spaces for discussion and training in the economic field, particularly in the green and sustainable economy, supporting young people's ideas that can generate a social impact through new social and economic paradigms.

> Social entrepreneurship and solidarity are promoted transversally in the activities of the association in order to maintain the focus on human and social development.

> A continuous motivation for civic and political participation in favour of social welfare, through spaces for discussion and training, as well as concrete actions in all activities and projects, so that young people are active agents of social impact in different scenarios.

> In the activities, priority is given to dialogue and encounter, especially promoting multiculturalism, religious diversity, different gender identities, and personal worldviews. Specific activities are developed in this area.

> The responsibility for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the connection with nature, the promotion of sport and cultural development are aspects of particular interest to the association, and workshops, seminars, events, etc. are developed in these areas.

> Particularly with the international activities, the aim is to positively stimulate the European identity, encouraging the recognition of the institutions, public policies and characteristics of the European Union at local and transnational level.

Most activities and projects have a strong ingredient of intergenerationality, as young people and youth workers work together democratically for planning, implementation and participation in the different existing spaces. This ensures space for experience and innovation, as well as a mentoring process that enhances the skills of all involved.

By supporting young people and youth workers in these aspects, it is hoped that high-impact changes can be generated and contribute to the improvement of society in a holistic and progressive way.

It is strongly responsible and committed to the SDGs and the common improvement strategies of the European Union and Austria at all levels. In this field the association has developed different activities at local and European level. It has promoted several symposia, workshops, courses, dialogue spaces and mainly participation in different European projects with the Erasmus+ programme.

Our experience on the field

The experience and work of the association can be presented as follows:

> It has ventured into cultural themes with a focus on sustainability, through local projects that promote multiculturalism based on gastronomy, (Act2Connect. 2022) and with (Food2Connect. 2021), which has won recognition from the environmental office of the Diocese of Graz for this work; in this same field it annually develops a Social Day to promote solidarity and the reconstruction of the social fabric in the city of Vienna, with the participation of young people, volunteers and street dwellers.

> It organises annual sporting activities such as the Run4Unity in Graz or the Fairplay Tournament and the Social Day in Vienna, whose aim is to raise funds to finance social and/or environmental projects.

> In the field of inclusion and integration, it has participated in some European projects (Living Diversity. 2019 & Moving Together. 2021) with which young people with fewer opportunities or with difficulties of social integration, have had the opportunity to carry out trainings and artistic performances.

> With the commitment to invest in the capacities of its own staff and volunteers, the association frequently develops weekly seminars, workshops and meetings to maintain a high level of quality in the work of those involved. In order to make inroads into innovation and the improvement of the capacities of youth workers, participation in European projects (YoMEMO. 2020) that aim to create innovative materials and strengthen the capacities of youth workers, as well as to create networks of work and cooperation, stands out.

> The social and youth empowerment work is also fundamental in the work plan of the association, therefore, the participation in European projects (Tigers. 2022) that promote the empowerment of young people, women, minorities, have been a very important and significant area of work in recent years.

> While the theme of sustainability is transversal to all activities and is promoted in each of the activities, as well as the promotion of the SDGs and EU policies for young people and for the environment, it is important to highlight that several activities are carried out at local and European level to contribute to the fight against climate change and ecological well-being. In particular, through European projects (Eco-Cohesion. 2023) and (Greenclusive. 2022) important training events, dissemination and concrete work with young people and adults in this field are being developed.

In addition to the above-mentioned activities, the creation and implementation of further initiatives in different fields such as pedagogy, economics, politics, communication, culture, etc. is expected to be realised.

In accordance with our democratised working methodology, in which the participation and contribution of young people, volunteers and staff is extremely important, further initiatives are expected to emerge spontaneously from the experiences they are making in the currently active local and transnational activities.

Introduction

Since its foundation, the organisation New Humanity Österreich has been committed to the promotion and dissemination of the concept of "Universal Brotherhood" as an instrument for the construction of the community and the social fabric, based primarily on development and human rights.

The aim of the association is to create spaces of participation to encourage people to be active participants in the construction of society and the community, based on the philosophy of Universal Fraternity.

The association focuses on developing communication skills with people of different religions and different worldviews, promoting tolerance, mutual respect and cooperation on a local and transnational level.

As an association born within the Focolare Movement, NHÖ works in an international network of associations and individuals committed to peace, respect for human rights and nature, the eradication of violence, hatred, and selfishness. This is done through international cooperation and the development of a global network through the NGO New Humanity International, which is accredited by the United Nations.

In order to achieve its objectives, NHÖ develops educational activities and trainings for adults in different areas: personal development, civic participation with social impact, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, conflict resolution in the community and in families, among others. Furthermore, in a transversal way, the association promotes the principles and objectives of the European Union and the SDGs.

The association currently has a staff, mainly of volunteers, who contribute significantly with their own experiences from their academic, professional and/or experiential backgrounds. This interdisciplinary group, which comes from different cultural and religious backgrounds, cooperates efficiently in the implementation of the activities and is continuously trained to ensure high quality results of the initiatives and projects, as well as the effective achievement of the objectives.

What we do...

The association is characterised by giving priority to the following aspects: family formation, conflict management, pedagogy, economics and politics, communication, religion and culture; additionally NHÖ has a strong commitment to the SDGs and a sustainable future.

In a cross-cutting manner, there is a strong promotion of European policies and an emphasis on innovation, social impact, empowerment of people, gender equality, integration and multiculturalism, entrepreneurship and employment, among others.

Congresses and conferences, discussion forums or conferences, holding exhibitions, creating leisure activities (creative activities, sports, hiking, cultural events, ...), social and charitable activities and publications, are important to us because they are a way to achieve our objectives, giving visibility and disseminating good practices.

Our experience on the field

In order to contribute to all the areas in which the association is committed, several activities and projects are developed at local and international level. Among the most outstanding ones we can say that we carry out:

> Planning and organising informative and educational events on current issues, e.g.: informative events during elections, inviting politicians and personalities in panel discussions; dialogue between Islam and Christianity, etc.

> Organisation of frequent networking events with different people involved in social work, thus providing an exchange of good experiences for people seeking exchanges in the field of ethical advocacy.

> Symposia, workshops, congresses and company visits for entrepreneurs and people interested in social entrepreneurship: "Shared and Prophetic Economies", solidarity-based alternatives to current economic models.

> Numerous training courses, congresses, conferences and symposiums on themes of personal development, social and socio-political commitment, intercultural and interreligious dialogue.

> Significant responsibility and cooperation in the organisation of events and conferences of the network "Together for Europe" (major events Stuttgart 2004, 2007, Würzburg 2009, Brussels 2012, Munich 2016, Lisbon 2022). www.together4europe.org.

> Promotion of initiatives working with refugees (from discussion tables to regular intercultural breakfasts for women and local groups, accompanying and guiding the integration process of refugees). For example: Social Caffè in Vienna.

> Counselling on family issues and education, through training offers in crisis management and child and youth education. Mainly through the Erasmus+ project EPIC (2022-2024), which makes a high quality training process in the related topics.

> Different sports and charity activities to promote cultural integration and peace. With the participation of more than 200 young people and adults from all over Austria, committed to tolerance and mutual respect. For example: Sport4Peace, a charity tournament for peace and to raise funds for those affected by the war in Syria.

These initiatives are available to anyone who wishes to participate, regardless of their specific background. They serve to broaden personal and social skills, further education and networking. Special attention is given to intercultural access to all topics and events.
